ABOUT THON

For those of you who might not have heard about Penn State's THON, it "is a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Our mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness and ensure funding for critical research - all in pursuit of a cure."

We'd love for you to join Hannah and I in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THON. This year, I am taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.

Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

WHAT THON MEANS TO US

The past four years at Penn State have been a standout in our lives, and THON is one of the largest contributors to that. Over the past four years, we have been actively involved with THON in several different ways. We served on a committee called Dancer Relations for 2 years. This committee has about 700+ student volunteers that are each paired with a dancer. The committee spends over 4 months being educated about THON and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of dancers during THON weekend. For the last two years, we have been apart of Penn State Fitness THON. We are paired with a wonderful family that we provide support to year round. Hannah and I have been dreaming of giving back to the community that has been so special to us throughout our Penn State Years.

Throughout the year, we will be fundraising to benefit THON in an effort to provide outstanding financial and emotional support and spread THON’s mission world-wide. It is our hope that one day, every child will have the opportunity to live out their dreams and no parent will have to hear the words, "Your child has cancer."

Thank you for taking the time to read and learn more about THON! We truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing my page to spread THON's mission.
