Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Family and Friends,

Life is made up of millions of little moments. Moments that make us laugh, cry, feel deeply, and connect with others. It is through these moments that we create the memories that will stay with us forever. For many children, their lives are changed forever by the diagnosis of childhood cancer. It is my mission to provide these children with the moments and memories that you and I are so grateful to have experienced in life. When I became a student at Penn State, I was introduced to the world’s largest student-run philanthropy, the Penn State Dance Marathon.

Personally, I THON to instill hope in children battling childhood cancer and support families who are undergoing one of the most unimaginable challenges no parent or sibling should ever have to endure. No parent should ever have to hear the words, "Your child has cancer". Furthermore, no child should have their childhood robbed from them, their dreams taken from them, or even worse - their life being lost way too soon.

Unfortunately, cancer greatly affected my family and me during my time at Penn State. This period of time may have been awful for me, but I learned a lot during it. Most importantly, I learned how it feels to need support and a sense of hope. Thankfully, my family won our fight together. However, it aches me to know that there are other families out there, specifically innocent children, who are not so lucky.

Yet, as a community we have the ability to shape their experience so that no family has to go through this daunting process alone. We have the opportunity to shape dark moments into our motivation, and light moments into our inspiration. For over 40 years, incredible supporters, like potentially you, have impacted THON in the most positive light, so that no family sees a bill and can focus on being by their child’s side to provide laughter, smiles, and happiness.

Thanks to the support from our donors, THON continues to grow as a yearlong fundraising and awareness campaign committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $157 million for our sole beneficiary, Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Last year alone, THON raised more than $10 million For The Kids™. We are proud of the fact that over 95¢ of every $1 contributed will directly provide emotional and financial support to more than 4,000 Four Diamonds children and families affected by childhood cancer, in addition to funding critical research with a global impact.

THON’s yearlong fundraising culminates in a 46-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon every February in which 16,500 student volunteers and 700+ dancers unite for one cause. I am reaching out to you to inform you that I am attempting to independently dance in THON 2019 through the fundraising-based lottery system. It is with only your support that I can help ensure that all children’s lives are shaped by beautiful moments. Please consider joining me in the fight against childhood cancer today by making a gift to THON on this page.

Thank you so much for your support of this phenomenal organization and joining the fight against childhood cancer. On February 15th, as a result of your support, I personally hope to take a stance through our 46-hour dance marathon to support the fighters, admire the survivors, honor the taken, and show the world what cancer cannot do.
