My name is Ryan Anderson, and I am the Technology Director for THON 2019. It is my personal mission to use technologies such as DonorDrive to help spread awareness and raise money for victims of childhood cancer. By donating to my page, you may give a child the day he or she needs to win their battle and change the future.
A little about my THON journey:
I joined THON as an OPP Committee Member my freshman year at the advice of my older brother. I couldn't have known at the time the profound impact that the organization and the families it benefits would have on me. Those who know me personally know how much I care about the organization, because (possibly to their annoyance) I never stop talking about it. This is because childhood cancer should continue to be talked about until it no longer exists, and the dancers dance in celebration.
My Sophomore year I was an R&R Committee Member. I will remember my experience on the Rocket PoweR&R's Committee fondly for the rest of my life, and I believe it is what kickstarted my intense passion for the organization. I left THON in 2017 energized and ready to give more. I nearly immediately applied to be a Technology Captain, as that is the place where I felt that I could make the biggest impact: by combining my love of technology and my love of THON.
As a Technology Captain my Junior year, I was part of an amazing team of 6 developers who lead the creation of the THON Weekend Dashboard, which replaced the infamous PASS System. Getting emails from dancers and organization members after the event telling the Dash team about how the system affected them is probably my favorite THON Memory, because it was a tangible representation of our hard work and countless late nights. It empowered me to become a Director, and hopefully strive to make even larger impacts for THON 2019. Part of my impact is spreading awareness and raising money, so if you want please donate to my page and share it, For The Kids.
A little more about THON:
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and fund critical research to take our fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.
I truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing my page on social media to spread THON’s mission.
