Help save the lives of children battling cancer by supporting THON. Student Nurses' Association at Penn State SNAPS is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised over $204 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,800 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON's yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon. By supporting THON, you will be joining a community committed to conquering childhood cancer. In 2022, SNAPS and our partner organization, Kinesiology Club, raised enough money to rank as the 6th highest fundraisers for general organizations! In 2023, we were able to place 10th with SNAPS raising $33,812.17 last year.
SNAPS has two THON families, the Ryan Packer family, and the Lucas Steigelman family. Ryan Packer, age 17, is a current high school senior who was diagnosed with Acute B Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia on June 27, 2019. He loves to play across and is a big fan of Notre Dame football. Ryan finished his last treatment and rang the bell in October 2021. Lucas Steigelman, age 14, is a current high school freshman who was diagnosed with High-Risk T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2016. His last treatment was May 19, 2019. He loves playing Xbox, fishing, and watching football.
