Dancing for a Cure

All donations are given to the Four Diamonds Fund, established to meet the needs of the children and families of the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.

Our Story:

We (Mike and Mark) met in our anatomy class on the very first day of school at University Park. As Kinesiology students we both connected right away with our passion for exercise and love for meeting new people. We both have a strong faith and a commitment to serve the community. Over the months, this became very evident in our friendship and it was not long before we wished to use our strengths for benefiting others in one collective effort. This is when we looked to THON as a means to achieve our aspirations.

After experiencing THON weekend together this past February, the two of us could not help but feel overwhelmed with excitement and joy from what the event had brought forth. As we watched the dancers stand for 46 hours straight in honor of children battling pediatric cancer, we thought of how humbling of an experience it would be to be on the same dance floor where these special children are honored every year. From this point on, the two of us vowed that we would put forth our best effort be one of these dancers and raise money for the brave children.

To anyone who is able and willing, any donations towards the cause are greatly appreciated in helping raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer. With every dollar raised, THON provides funding to help pay for children’s medical bills as well as supporting cancer research conducted at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. As a token of gratitude for our fundraising efforts, the donations we receive directly increase our chances of being selected to participate in this year’s THON weekend 46-hour dance marathon.

Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Together, we are taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

Mike Healy and Mark Grandinetti have been working tirelessly all year with the hopes of being selected to dance in THON 2019. Independent Dancer Couples are dedicated individuals who set up their own fundraisers throughout the year, and with the support of friends and family, will obtain tickets in a lottery system in the hopes of earning a spot as dancers in the Penn State Dance Marathon. With your contribution, you will bring Mike and Mark one step closer to being able to take a stand against childhood cancer during THON Weekend 2019.
