Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Family and Friends,
Penn State’s THON is committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. THON fundraising is a year-long effort involving more than 16,500 students and culminates in a 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon. Every penny that is donated goes directly to the Four Diamonds Fund which covers all medical expenses related to cancer care not covered by insurance for childhood cancer patients. THON’s mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness, and ensure funding for critical research – all in pursuit of a cure.
In previous years, we volunteered as members of other organizations such as Kappa Kappa Gamma (both) and the Penn State Majorettes (Taylor). Taylor also worked on THON’s Operations Committee Freshman and Sophomore year, while Rachel helped fundraise through the Penn State Finance Society and the Council of Supply Chain Professionals. Our contribution to THON was acting as volunteers and supporters to our organization's dancers. Individually, we stood for more than 35 hours each year for the past three years. This year, we have signed up as IDC or an Independent Dancer Couple. IDC’s must raise a certain amount of money to be included in a weighted lottery where a limited number of couples have the chance to dance in THON. Couples must hit a high fundraising quota to be considered for the lottery. Chances to be entered in the lottery are dependent on the amount of money raised. If picked, both of us commit to 46 hours of no sitting and no sleeping where we can help dance for a cure.
Last year, Penn State’s THON raised over 10 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. We feel extremely blessed to be able to attend such an amazing university and have the opportunity to contribute to THON. It would be greatly appreciated if you could contribute to this life-changing cause. Your donation truly makes a difference in the lives of these children and their families. It is a huge commitment and honor to be able to dance and is not something that everyone in Penn State’s community is able to do. As seniors, this is our last opportunity to dance and we would be honored to be involved in such an emotionally and physically challenging experience. Thank you!

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Together, Taylor Evans and Rachel Patel, are taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

Taylor Evans and Rachel Patel have been working tirelessly all year with the hopes of being selected to dance in THON 2019. Independent Dancer Couples are dedicated individuals who set up their own fundraisers throughout the year, and with the support of friends and family, will obtain tickets in a lottery system in the hopes of earning a spot as dancers in the Penn State Dance Marathon. With your contribution, you will bring Taylor Evans and Rachel Patel one step closer to being able to take a stand against childhood cancer during THON Weekend 2019.
