Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.
Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Together, Rachel Runatz and Darcy Pacheco are taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.
We absolutely love that Penn State THON is not only the largest student-run organization in the country, but it means that all 16,500+ THON volunteers are all working towards the same mission. The THON mission is so incredibly empowering, it gives us motivation every day to work towards being able to embody each of the four diamonds: courage, wisdom, honesty, and strength. THON gives us an opportunity to make such a meaningful impact on our community and most importantly, our impact symbolizes power.
We don’t stand for 46 hours because we enjoy it, we stand because it gives us a better understanding and an opportunity to fight for others along with those we have lost.
Rachel Runatz and Darcy Pacheco have been working tirelessly all year with the hopes of being selected to dance in THON 2019. Independent Dancer Couples are dedicated individuals who set up their own fundraisers throughout the year, and with the support of friends and family, will obtain tickets in a lottery system in the hopes of earning a spot as dancers in the Penn State Dance Marathon. With your contribution, you will bring Rachel Runatz and Darcy Pacheco one step closer to being able to take a stand against childhood cancer during THON Weekend 2019.
