Thank you for supporting us in our journey to
dance in THON 2019!

Every three minutes, a family somewhere in the world is told their child has cancer. Imagine that, in the time it will take you just to read through our page, a new child will be diagnosed. That is exactly what we are fighting to stop.

The kids we’re fighting for through THON are all pediatric cancer patients that are being treated or have been treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. These children and their families are reached out to by the Four Diamonds Foundation, one of THON’s largest beneficiaries. Through THON and the Four Diamonds, these children and their families do not have to worry about a single penny of the cost of their cancer treatment. These parents never see a single medical bill throughout their entire journey; they can forget about finances and focus all of their energy on supporting their child through their battle. Julia has personal experience volunteering at the Hershey Children’s Hospital and working with these kids every week, and it gives us such joy knowing that they don’t have to worry about the medical bills at all; they already have more than enough on their plates as it is. No parent should ever have to make a tough decision about their child’s healthcare plan based on their ability to finance the treatment(s), and the fact that THON is able to eliminate that concern for families is incredible. Through our fundraising efforts, we’re not only able to provide cost-free cancer treatment to these children but also the best of the best healthcare providers and continuous pediatric cancer research in pursuit of a cure.

THON first began in 1973, and since then has grown into the one of the largest philanthropies that has ever existed. Since the first year, THON has raised over $157 million For The Kids (FTK). The mission of THON is one that sticks deep in our hearts as Julia is pursuing a career as a Certified Child Life Specialist, and plans to specialize in Hematology/Oncology. Through her pursuits of this career, she’s had countless experiences working with children who are facing the absolute worst of circumstances. These children are faced with pain daily; they are scared and lost and forced to grow up far too quickly. Often, there are children who do not survive and become THON angels who live on through the memories we keep of them and the continuous involvement we keep with their families. While the reality of pediatric cancer is often a tough pill to swallow, THON is able to provide a light of hope and joy for children who are surrounded by darkness, and we are unspeakably proud to be a part of that.

Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

1 in 330 children will be diagnosed with cancer by age 20. The causes of most childhood cancers are unknown, and less than 4% of the United States’ total funding for cancer is dedicated to childhood cancer each year. While these kids may be worth less that 4% in the eyes of the government, they are priceless in our eyes. September is pediatric cancer awareness month, and while THON’s mission spans the entire year, this month specifically is very near and dear to us. Last year, THON raised over $10.1 million; our DonorDrive fundraising goal is $5k, and our total fundraising goal is $50k.

Dancing in THON has been a huge dream of ours for a long time now, and in order to realize this dream of dancing FTK, we need the help of people like you to help assist us in reaching our fundraising goal. Dancers are selected from a weighted lottery system based on their fundraising efforts each year, and our hope is to fundraise enough to be selected from this lottery.  We need your help not only to help us realize this dream of ours but more importantly to help these children live to see another day.

We sincerely thank you for supporting us and for your generous donation!

“One day we will dance in celebration,

until then we will dance for a cure.”

Julia Greco & Skylar Kulchinsky have been working tirelessly all year with the hopes of being selected to dance in THON 2019. Independent Dancer Couples are dedicated individuals who set up their own fundraisers throughout the year, and with the support of friends and family, will obtain tickets in a lottery system in the hopes of earning a spot as dancers in the Penn State Dance Marathon. With your contribution, you will bring Julia Greco & Skylar Kulchinsky one step closer to being able to take a stand against childhood cancer during THON Weekend 2019.
