For the Polizzis!

Raw Aesthetic Movements, otherwise known as RAM Squad, is a hip-hop dance student organization at Penn State, inspiring the community to express themselves. We're more than just a dance group, however. Since 2008, RAM Squad has been working tirelessly to raise money for THONTM , the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Alongside 16,500 student volunteers, RAM Squad is supporting over 4,000 families in their battle against childhood cancer as well as funding critical research for the cure. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Last year, RAM Squad raised $3,722.83 towards THONTM's 2018 whopping total: $10,151,663.93. RAM Squad works year-round to provide financial and emotional support to the families affected by pediatric cancer, including our Four Diamond's family: The Polizzis!
Gabby, Danielle, Joe, Deb, and Sal Polizzi have been a part of our “RAMily” since 2012, and the bond between us gets stronger every year. Before our partnership in 2012, the Polizzis faced a difficult year. Not only did their house catch on fire, but a few weeks later Gabby, the youngest of the three children, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three. Throughout the years, RAM has shown our love and support for the Polizzis through constant contact throughout the years, sending care packages, video calls, and visiting the family. Even though Gabby has been in remission for quite some time, we still show our love and support to the Polizzis. To see a family encounter so many obstacles through life and overcome every obstacle us inspiring to not only do the same, but to help with the THONTM initiative.

Organizations play a key role in helping THON fulfill its mission of conquering childhood cancer. Throughout the year, Organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students across all campuses by facilitating fundraisers and providing emotional support to Four Diamonds Families. Raw Aesthetic Movements works alongside these Organizations with the common goal of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
