Sydney Pellegrini and Sabrina Pellegrini

Join us on February 15, 2019

Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Together, Sydney Pellegrini and Sabrina Pellegrini, are taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

Our Story

As seniors now at Penn State, we have watched THON come and go three times. We have witnessed the community unite with hard work, laughter, and an endless love for the kids. This year THON is not only a cause we want to support, but it’s a fight we want to dance for.

In a filled and beaming stadium, we watched as children performed in the Kid’s Talent Show during our very first THON. One by one, each child faced thousands of people hardly phased. Each courageously awed the audience with performances that expressed not only their talent, but the strength within their fight. Each child appeared bright and alive as they sang and danced on stage— sharing their songs with the world. It was at this moment we knew we had to do something. We all have the ability to make somebody else’s life better— and through unity and determination, we can make these children’s dreams become a reality. No matter how small our role, we want to dance at THON for those children— so that their music can always be heard.

Their Contribution

Last year, Sabrina participated in an OPP committee (also known as ‘Operations’). She and her committee members were responsible for transforming Penn State’s basketball arena into the place we know as THON. Additionally, Sabrina participated in alternative fundraising events and other activities to help raise both money and awareness. As a senior, she’s a member of a finance committee where her efforts are allocated to counting and keeping track of donations.

Meanwhile, Sydney began her contribution to THON by joining the Dancer Relations committee. Here, it was her job to take care of and support the 700 dancers who stood the entire 46 hours THON weekend. She was there for the dancers, so they could be there for the kids. While also fundraising independently, this year, Sydney is simultaneously participating in the THON Outreach Committee. Her job is to educate and reach out to faculty, staff, and other organizations in order to spread awareness about THON’s objective and its positive impacts it has on the families and kids impacted by childhood cancer.

After realizing how such a small contribution could mean so much, both Sydney and Sabrina decided to do more. They have chosen to take in the role of independently raising money for the families and kids. Ultimately, their final goal is to be the ones standing for 46 hours straight—in honor of the perseverance and strength of each child and their families.

Any donation will help our chances of being chosen to dance, and all money goes to THON’s sole beneficiary, the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

We truly appreciate any support you provide, either by making a donation or by sharing my page on social media to spread THON’s mission.

Sydney Pellegrini and Sabrina Pellegrini have been working tirelessly all year with the hopes of being selected to dance in THON 2019. Independent Dancer Couples are dedicated individuals who set up their own fundraisers throughout the year, and with the support of friends and family, will obtain tickets in a lottery system in the hopes of earning a spot as dancers in the Penn State Dance Marathon. With your contribution, you will bring Sydney Pellegrini and Sabrina Pellegrini one step closer to being able to take a stand against childhood cancer during THON Weekend 2019.
