Child Life Club Benefitting THON
Many people don’t know about the Child Life profession, but it holds an extremely important role in children’s hospitals. Child Life Specialists play a very special role in a child’s journey when diagnosed with cancer and many other terminal illnesses, and everyone in our organization is dedicated to someday becoming a Certified Child Life Specialist. CCLS’s role in the hospital is to help children understand medical procedures and terminology by explaining them in ways that are child-friendly, such as using dolls and pictures.
They assess development and help with coping through medical play therapy. Their job is to be an advocate for the child and to support them and their entire family throughout their medical journey. As aspiring Child Life Specialists, we all have a special place in our hearts for these children and have dedicated our lives to helping them. Please help support us on our journey as we support them!
Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.
Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Our Organization, Child Life Club, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.
Organizations play a key role in helping THON fulfill its mission of conquering childhood cancer. Throughout the year, Organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students across all campuses by facilitating fundraisers and providing emotional support to Four Diamonds Families. Child Life Club works alongside these Organizations with the common goal of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
