Hope Shines Brightest in the Darkest Moments

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Kappa Sigma is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. The year-long efforts of our 90 undergraduate members culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to ensure that they never have to face cancer alone. 88 cents of every $1 go directly towards providing financial support for families and funding research, so that that these families never have to worry about a medical bill, but can focus on being a family instead.
The Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Sigma is a huge supporter of THON. We have over 90 undergraduates who are extremely dedicated to the mission of THON and our THON families. Last year, our undergraduates raised enough money to provide 40 hours of research, 233 hours of patient specific social work, 1,556 hours of outpatient treatment, or 2,457 hours of psychological counseling.
Throughout the year, we hold several fun events with our families, most recently a formal dinner and a tour of the Penn State football facilities.

One of our THON families, the Tafels, has been paired with Kappa Sigma for 8 years. At the age of 6, Nick was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor. This past October, he celebrated being officially 10 years cancer free!
The 46 hours of THON weekend are by far our favorite time of the year, and we are eager to dance in celebration once again this upcoming February. Until then, it is our honor and privilege to fundraise to benefit THON and all Four Diamonds families. We would like to invite you to join our fundraising efforts.
