Newman Student Catholic Association Benefiting THONTM

The Newman Student Catholic Association has consistently been a proud supporter of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), the biggest student-based philanthropy in the world. THON is a 46-hour (no sitting, no sleeping) dance marathon in support of the fight against pediatric cancer. Newman, as well as other organizations at Penn State, have made it a priority to actively fundraise throughout the year leading up to THON weekend.

Fundraising efforts and events include (but are not limited to) donordrive, the THON 5K, canvassing, thonvelopes, donation boxes, and alternate fundraisers. These efforts and events give hope and provide happiness to the lives of the families and individuals that are greatly affected by childhood cancer, specifically Newman’s THON family: the Reinertsens!

Please help our club bring joy to the ones who need and absolutely deserve it, specifically the Reinertsen family! Newman’s THON child, Kaitlyn Reinertsen, has been cancer free for 4 years! She is 11 years old, wants to go to Penn State for college, and loves doing makeup. She is absolutely amazing—just wait until you meet her!

Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into relity by supporting THONTM. Our Organization, Newman Student Catholic Association, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

Organizations play a key role in helping THON fulfill its mission of conquering childhood cancer. Throughout the year, Organizations contribute to the efforts of thousands of Penn State students across all campuses by facilitating fundraisers and providing emotional support to Four Diamonds Families. Newman works alongside these Organizations with the common goal of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
