Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Omega Phi Alpha is a National Service Sorority and an associate chapter of Penn State's Panhellenic Greek Organization. Each semester each active sister in the sorority does over 50 service hours helping out our campus community, the State College community, and communities nationally and internationally. One philanthropy that holds a special place in our heart is the Penn State Dance Marathon, the largest student run philanthropy in the world.

The Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) is a 46 hour no sleeping, no sitting dance marathon. THON is held the second to last weekend of February. Along with 16,500 across other student volunteers, Omega Phi Alpha works to support the many families who go through Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA. Despite advancements in research and treatment, childhood cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. – more than asthma, cystic fibrosis, and diabetes combined. However, through continued support and dedication to finding a cure the number of childhood cancer survivors alive each year grows!

To date, THON has raised over 147 million dollars and has help over 3,700 different families in the fight against cancer. From the years 2012 to 2017 Omega Phi Alpha as raised over 220 thousand dollars with the help of people like you. Each year we strive to do better and raise as much as possible so that THON can continue to give 100% coverage to all childhood cancer patients who go to Penn State Children’s Hospital.

We are so blessed to have 3 AMAZING FAMILIES paired with our organization - the Miranda Zeigler family, the Josiah Garcia family, and the Megan Martin family!! Each family has a very unique and individual story and we are so excited to share it with you!

The Zeiglers have been our THON family since 2008 when Miranda was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After just 5 months and 3 weeks after diagnosis, Miranda passed away and went to heaven. Miranda is an inspiration and a hero. To this day, Miranda’s parents, Tammy and Jeff continue to support THON and our organization! We love spending time with the Zeiglers look forward to spending many more incredible THON Weekends with this truly amazing family! We dance in honor and in memory of our beautiful angel Miranda. She inspires us each and every day with her strength, courage, and contagious smile.

Because of our new THON pairing with the fraternity Chi Phi, we are lucky enough to have been paired with Josiah and his mother Erika this fall semester. Josiah was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in July 2014 at the age of 9. We are so excited to announce that at the end of October of this year he finished treatment!! Josiah loves video games, nerf guns, music, and dancing. He is a huge Penn State football fan and cannot wait to attend Penn State as a student and a brother of Chi Phi.

This year we were lucky enough to be paired with a new THON family, the Megan Martin family! They are a fun and energetic family who loves sports and we are so happy to welcome them to our Penn State family!! We cannot wait to build a strong lasting relationship with our new family!

With your help, we can positively impact the health of future generations. Please consider joining us in the fight against childhood cancer today by helping us reach our fundraising goal and making a gift to THON in the name of Omega Phi Alpha. We appreciate any and all donations made because we know that it will help a child in need.
