Growing up is a beautiful thing. Let’s fight for it.

Join us in our commitment to turn childhood dreams into reality by supporting THONTM. Our committee, Family Relations, is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers and over 25,000 alumni supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. Our year-long efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon each February to celebrate our survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take a stand--all in hopes of one day dancing in celebration of a cure.
Since 1977, THON has raised over $157 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, providing comprehensive care for 4,000 families and funding critical research to take this fight beyond central Pennsylvania and spread hope around the world. We work year-round to provide both financial and emotional support for our families, ensuring that they never have to face cancer alone.

THON Committees play a key role in helping THON fulfill its mission of conquering childhood cancer. As Committee Members, students plan for and attend THON events as part of a team dedicated to making THON a success year after year, Family Relations, plays an integral role in the continued success of THON.

The mission of the Family Relations Committee is to provide year round assistance and support to the Four Diamonds Families by ensuring each of their THON experiences are enjoyable to the fullest. Family Relations is responsible for upholding the emotional aspect of THON’s mission. Family Relations is committed to the well-being of the Four Diamonds Families, keeping students informed and inspired, and working alongside the rest of THON’s Committees to ensure that the families remain at the heart of THON and that everything is done For The Kids.

Family Relations works to support Four Diamonds Families and share their inspiration with the entire THON community. Additionally, Family Relations organizes the Adopt-a-Family Program and plans family events throughout the THON season including Harvest Day, THON Hoops, THON Hockey, THON Soccer, and more. Family Relations also plans THON Weekend events such as the Kid’s Talent and Fashion Show, and the THON Explorers’ Program, as well as specialized events for Bereaved Families, New Families, and Adult Four Diamonds Families. Above all, the Family Relations Committee upholds the emotional aspect of THON’s mission statement.
